Fern Coppedge

oil on canvas, 12 x 14 inches

signed at lower left: "Fern I Coppedge"

New Hope House is a lovely oil on canvas by Fern Coppedge. The oil on canvas measures 12 x 14 inches and depicts a New Hope home in Coppedge's characteristic vibrant colors. The painting is signed at the lower left: "Fern I Coppedge". Coppedge was one of the New Hope Circle's most beloved artists. She is well known for her many paintings of the Bucks County countryside, particularly her snow scenes and the many harbor scences she painted while summering in New England. Even as a young child, Coppedge believed she saw colors differently- and was often teased for it as a young girl. As an artist, she used this personal distinction to her advantage and her colorful bold compositions became highly desirable to collectors both then and now.
