Louis Aston Knight was the son of American expatriate painter, Daniel Ridgway Knight. Louis Aston Knight was born in Paris is 1873. He first exhibited in the Paris Salon in 1894 and became well known for his beautiful interpretations of the French countryside. As he enjoyed fame and success in Europe, his popularity grew in the United States. He made many trips to the U.S.A. often painting in Florida and New York. Spring Along the French Canal is a classic example of Knight's French landscapes.
