Blackman had one-man shows at PAFA and DeMena Gallery NY as well as participating in group shows at Reese Palley Gallery NJ, Fontana Gallery PA, Studio 7 NJ, Carlsson Gallery NY and Margaret Locks Gallery PA. When Morris Blackman moved to Queen Village in Philadelphia in 1978, he purchased a former stable and turned it into his art studio and living quarters. His three dimensional mixed-media paintings feature primary colors and incorporate themes from his travels and life experiences. Morris said his role as an artist was to show the world the way that he experienced and felt it, not to simply paint a pretty picture. His list of teaching appointments include Fleisher Art Memorial, University of the Arts, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the University of Pennsylvania.
