22 karat Childe Hassam style reproduction frame

signed and dated at lower right: "John Wells James 1925 (?)"

Along the Canal in New Hope, PA, by John Wells James, is a slice of life painting of the Delaware River canal. Probably painted sometime around 1925 this painting is in excellent condition and has been cleaned and varnished. The painting, an oil on board, is in a 22 karat Childe Hassam reproduction frame. It is signed at lower right, "John Wells James 1925",  the date is somewhat illegible so it is difficult to be absolutely sure of what it reads.
