Philadelphia Harbor, by Henry Snell, is a 10 3/4 x 7 3/4 inch oil on canvas. Henry Snell was an important member of the New Hope Circle. He settled in the area in the late 1800s. Snell was a dedicated teacher. He taught at the Philadelphia School of Design for Women and held private art classes in Boothbay Harbor, Maine and Gloucester, Massachusetts. He also hosted trips to Europe where he would encourage his students to absorb the cultures around them and paint their experiences.
