Born in North Wales in 1932, Peter Howell was immersed in horse racing long before he became an artist. His passion and experience translate in his vivid, moody depictions, which tend to evoke a strong emotional reaction. Thomas La Sherwood Fontaine was born in Turkey in 1915 and served in the British military. He's best known for his commissions of celebrated race horses and their proud owners, but he's highly respected for his sporting scenes of fox hunts, polo matches, and races.
