This particular frame had fallen off the wall at a client's home. As a result much of the ornate detailing had broken off of the main body of the frame. Our conservators carefully sorted through the broken pieces and reconstructed the design of the frame. The pieces were then carefully reattached using an epoxy. Unfortunately, not all of the pieces could be salvaged, so the losses had to be filled. Our conservators created a compo from existing areas and affixed those new pieces to the areas of loss within the frame. They were then treated and antiqued to match the patina of the remainder of the frame.
